Our newest yarn is now available! This limited run of Puget Sound-grown & processed Shetland fiber has been a dream of ours from the very beginning. We're thrilled to finally offer this small batch of yarn, from fleeces hand selected for their fineness and quality.

The details: Fingering weight 2-ply; 200 y/185m per 1.75oz/50g. This yarn is considered a 'semi-woolen', so it has more drape and sheen than many traditional Shetland yarns. Dyed in the lock and blended to create two natural colors and 6 heathered colors, with nods to the many natural connections between our region where the fiber was grown and processed, and the Shetland Isles where this wonderful breed originally hails from.

The colors:

  • Haar (natural soft grey; 'fog' in Shetland dialect)
  • Puffin (natural dark, almost black)
  • Moss (vibrant apple-green)
  • Fern (dark green)
  • Mariner (light blue)
  • Atlantic (teal)
  • Bramble (berry purple)
  • Sea Thrift (soft pink)

What we love about this yarn: the halo and subtle sheen, soft hand, and beautiful heathered colors make this a lovely yarn for hats, mitts, shawls, and any colorwork project. Just 3 skeins is enough to make a hat and matching pair of mitts so you can pick your favorite color combinations. Colorwork yoke sweaters would be stunning with this yarn!

Dyed, blended, and carded at Skagit Woolen Works, spun at Abundant Earth Fiber on Whidbey Island.
